Dear Esteemed Members, Valued Partners, and Dedicated Supporters,
It is with profound respect and immense gratitude that I accept the distinguished role of President for California Pioneers of Santa Clara County. I am deeply honored by the trust and confidence the Board of Directors and each of you have placed in my leadership to guide our organization forward and to further our vital mission of preserving and celebrating the rich history of Santa Clara County. This appointment represents a significant privilege, and I am eager to contribute to our collective endeavors.
Having spent my formative years and beyond within the vibrant Bay Area, Santa Clara County occupies a uniquely cherished space in my personal journey. My intrinsic connection to this land is deeply rooted, fostering a profound sense of pride in our historical foundations, our dynamic present, and the boundless potential of our future. It is this deep personal resonance with our local heritage that serves as the motivation for my unwavering commitment to our organization’s important work.
My professional experience spans two decades in public service, where I dedicated myself as a Deputy Probation Officer within the Santa Clara County Probation Department. This extensive experience meticulously cultivated in me a steadfast dedication to community well-being, honed robust leadership competencies, and provided an intimate understanding of effective public engagement strategies. A testament to my contributions in championing the welfare of families and youth, I was humbled to receive the Juvenile Justice Award from the Santa Clara County Juvenile Justice Court in 2011. This recognition holds particular significance as the second recipient was our then-Chief Probation Officer, Sheila Mitchell, whose visionary leadership spearheaded transformative departmental reforms. The evidence-based practices championed during that pivotal era continue to profoundly influence and inform our approaches in public service today, consistently emphasizing impactful, data-driven methodologies.
My journey with California Pioneers of Santa Clara County commenced in 2015, where I immediately immersed myself as a dedicated Docent at the historic Roberto Adobe & Sunol House museum. This hands-on experience not only deepened my appreciation for our priceless historical assets but also underscored the critical importance of their meticulous preservation and interpretation. In 2023, my involvement further expanded with my election to the Board of Directors, and I embraced the responsibilities of Education Director. In this capacity, it has been my distinct pleasure to forge a close and productive partnership with History San Jose’s Education Department, delivering engaging and enriching educational programs. We have achieved remarkable success in captivating the imaginations of school-aged students, who consistently express their delight and curiosity while exploring the history embedded within the Roberto Adobe & Sunol House museum and its Historical Garden.
As we look ahead toward the upcoming year, the Board of Directors and I are united to strategically broaden and deepen our educational outreach. A cornerstone initiative will involve the deliberate expansion of our established programs to thoughtfully include college students, offering them invaluable volunteer opportunities and enriching internships. This strategic enhancement aims not only to significantly enrich the learning experiences for a new generation of scholars and practitioners but also to proactively cultivate future stewards of our invaluable local heritage, thereby ensuring the sustained relevance and enduring vitality of our organizational mission for years to come.
I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate closely with each of you as we collectively endeavor to forge an even brighter and more impactful future for California Pioneers of Santa Clara County. Your insights, constructive feedback, and active participation in our forthcoming initiatives are not merely welcome but actively encouraged. I warmly extend an invitation to join us for our upcoming Luncheon on September 12, 2026, at the Three Flames Restaurant, where I look forward to connecting with many of you personally.
Thank you sincerely for your continued partnership, unwavering dedication, and steadfast support. I eagerly look forward to working alongside you to elevate the California Pioneers of Santa Clara County to new heights of impact and community engagement.
Sincerely,
Rachel Fischer
