Event attenders were
able to stroll the streets of History Park
and visit all the attractions. Stories-of-Service film clips
were
being presented in buildings throughout the park.

On this sunny day
some rode the cable car while others
strolled over to O'Briens for an ice cream cone.
BBQ lunch was served
up by the Clampers -- something
which everyone enjoyed!

Saturday, June 25, 2005
was the long awaited "Celebration
of Community"
at History Park in San Jose. Along with confirming the Santa
Clara County Pioneer's dedication to the restoration and use
of the Paulson House [

], this event was also
to celebrate the new partnership of History San José,
Digital Clubhouse Network and the California Pioneers of Santa
Clara County.
Partnership? Yes! History
Park San José is where the Paulson House is located, and
SCC Pioneers have renovated and occupied the home (as of 12/2006)
to display the wonderful historical items donated to the society.
They can be viewed by all generations, supported by the historical
insight of a docent, during the normal hours of History Park,
San José.
And to soften the bridge
between the "firmly rooted" and the "seedlings"
of our valley, space will be provided in the house for the primary
Santa Clara County location of the Digital Club House and its
intergenerational programs, which largely operate after school
and during the summer. This inspirational young group has spent
the last years recording individual Stories of Service on WWII , winning recognition
from the Library of Congress, The History Channel and a trip
to the dedication of the WWII Memorial in DC. They are now starting
projects to honor the centenarians of Santa Clara County, stories
of various "ethnic" pioneers who have effected the
growth of our county and stories of the Pioneer's members and
families. Young and old work together with the latest in technology
to gather and store on CD and DVD as many stories as possible.
So it is settled. We have
a new home and a new avenue to grow and harvest the next generation
of Pioneers.
